the surface of the deep

There were things before the telling, before the word gave shape to silence. Things with forms that did not settle, edges that curled away from the weight of being known.
What could not root, vanished. What could not vanish, changed.
This is what remains—a husk of motion stilled, a mouth unthreaded from hunger. Fabric in the shape of forgetting.
It does not claim time, only lingers in its wake. A gesture left unfinished. A question no longer asked.
